Welcome to our website and thank you for taking an interest in our school. We are a caring and inclusive comprehensive school with high expectations for everyone in the school community. We are passionate about comprehensive education and the transformative power it can have on the lives of individuals and our community. Our core values of respect, ambition, resilience and pride are at the heart of everything we do to ensure that we have positive, effective relationships with everyone in our school community. You will find our staff to be incredibly committed to the success of our students and will strive to ensure that each student can be successful.
Our broad, relevant and engaging curriculum supports and challenges students to acquire the skills and knowledge needed to thrive and contribute to their community. This is achieved through strong teaching and learning, personal development and positive relationships. Our curriculum is strengthened by a range of enrichment opportunities which encourage participation and activity beyond the classroom which we hope will develop a lifelong passion for learning.
A significant strength of our school is the quality of the relationships throughout the school community. We will ensure this continues to develop and flourish whilst constantly striving for academic excellence. We are very proud of our students and our school and warmly invite you to visit us. Please contact reception to arrange a visit.

Ethos and Values
We are a comprehensive school where every child matters. We endeavour to support all our students to be the best that they can be and we strive to ensure that strong relationships underpin our daily practice. Our core values of respect, ambition, resilience and pride run through everything we do and help us to ensure that we get the balance right between ambitious academic success, personal development whilst still supporting our students.
Our vision statement summarises this:
Sandhurst School challenges, supports and inspires every individual to achieve
their best; a sense of belonging is encouraged, responsibility is shared and everyone is valued.
We are an inclusive school that wants to be at the heart of our local community and we work hard to embed a feeling of pride in our school and also to help build a sense of pride in individual students. We praise, reward and value academic success, and day to day in lessons, our main focus is to ensure all students have the opportunity to succeed.
We also believe that education is so much more than exam passes and offer our students the opportunity to join in extra-curricular activities and visits that will help them experience life beyond the classroom. Ofsted recognised our provision for spiritual, moral, social and cultural development as a school strength.
We strive to be an excellent school so that the pursuit of excellence becomes a habit. The ethos of our school is summed up in the quote below:
“At its beating heart the excellent school is a place where people care more than others think is wise, risk more than
others think is safe, dream more than others think is practical and expect more than others think is possible.”
Roy Blatchford, Director National Educational Trust
