Intent

Our curriculum is driven by three core pillars:

  • Industry-Ready Skills: We provide a practical and hands-on learning experience that mirrors a professional salon environment. Students will develop a comprehensive skill set in areas like hairdressing, makeup application, and nail care, preparing them for seamless entry into vocational qualifications and apprenticeships.
  • Technical and Scientific Understanding:  We believe a strong foundation in the science behind hair and beauty treatments is crucial.  Students will explore the science of hair and skin, gaining a deep understanding of how products work and how to tailor treatments for individual needs. This knowledge will underpin their practical skills and foster a problem-solving approach.
  • Creativity and Confidence: We recognise the importance of artistic expression within the hair and beauty industry.  Our curriculum will provide opportunities for students to explore their creative side, develop their sense of style, and build the confidence to translate their vision into reality.

Impact

Through this curriculum, we aim to equip students with the following:

  • Technical proficiency in a range of hairdressing, makeup, and nail care techniques.
  • A strong understanding of the scientific principles underlying hair and beauty treatments.
  • The ability to problem-solve and adapt their skills to diverse client needs.
  • The confidence and creativity to express themselves through their work.
  • Transferable skills such as communication, teamwork, and time management, are valuable in any career path.

We are committed to providing a supportive and inclusive learning environment that fosters a lifelong passion for the hair and beauty industry. Our students will leave Sandhurst School ready to make their mark on the world, equipped with the skills and knowledge to succeed in a dynamic and rewarding career.
