This course is the first step in to a career that spans many sectors: nursing, social worker, midwife to name but a few. Assessment will take place via coursework and an exam element. Your course work will be assessed by your tutor & then your work will be assessed by BTEC. This course will allow you to take the first step into an industry where you can work within the NHS, the voluntary and private sectors. You will learn and develop new skills that will aid you in helping people with many different needs such as the elderly, people with disabilities and those with learning disabilities to manage their everyday lives. From this course you can move on to higher education.
Key Stage 4
Year 10 & 11- Human Life Span and Development, Health & Social Care Services & Values and Health and Wellbeing.
The Tech Award gives learners the opportunity to develop sector-specific knowledge and skills in a practical learning environment. The main focus is on three areas, which cover:
- Skills & Processes interpreting data to assess an individual’s health, and designing a plan to improve health & wellbeing.
- Attitudes, namely care values within the sector and how to apply them effectively.
- Knowledge that underpins the effective use of skills, process and attitudes, including human growth and development, health and social care services, and factors affecting people’s health and wellbeing.
A Level Health and Social Care
Year 12- Human lifespan development, working in health and social care, meeting individual care and support.
Year 13- The Sociological and Psychological perspective of Health and Social Care, personal and profressional development (undertaking a work placement).
