Emergency Closure
School Procedure for Emergency Closures:
Advice to parents in the event of possible emergency closure (e.g. snow)
In the event of extreme weather conditions please check if the school will be open:
1. Look at the school website. There will be a message on the Home Page.
2. Check your mobile phone for information by text message and social media.
3. Listen to local radio stations:
- BBC Radio Berkshire on 104.1,104.4, 95.4 FM
- Heart on 97.0 FM
- Eagle Radio on 96.4 FM
If there is snowfall overnight it is possible that opening the school will be delayed until 9.50 a.m. to allow staff and students to get to school.
If sufficient staff are unable to get to school, or if vehicle access to the school is not possible, or if the school site is unsafe, it may be necessary to close the school.
We will make the decision as early as we can. However, it will always be our intention to remain open whenever possible.
When it is unclear as to whether sufficient numbers of staff will be able to travel to school, at first the decision to delay opening until 10.00 a.m. will be taken. This information should be made public by 7.30 a.m.
A subsequent decision to open partially or to close, following an earlier decision to delay opening until 10.00 a.m. , should be made public by 8.30 a.m.
Please note that the school will remain open unless you are specifically informed otherwise.
