Hello, I’m Megan and I am currently in Year 12 studying Geography, History and Psychology. I am going to tell you why Sandhurst was my first choice for Sixth form and about Sixth Form Life.
I have been at Sandhurst since Year 7 and have always had a very positive experience at school. I enjoy the supportive environment and get on well with my teachers, many of whom have known me for a long time! There are many choices for studying after GCSE’s but having done my homework I was keen to continuing studying here.
I liked the idea of being a bigger fish in a smaller pond and really liked the idea of smaller class sizes and the extra support that I could get if I needed it. I also know that the teachers here really enjoy their subjects and genuinely want us to do well.
We have a greater amount of independence in the Sixth Form including study periods as part of our timetable that we can manage ourselves. Study in the Sixth Form is hard work but managing my time well is helping me to keep on top of my studies.
I have been able to form closer knit relationships with friends, not only in my year of Sixth Form, but also friendships in the year above. People that I wasn’t friends with before are now people that I can call my closest friends.
It is always good to have aspirations and ideas of what you would like to do after Sixth Form so that you know what options to choose, to help you reach your goals. After Sixth Form I would like to go to university and study Criminology and Law or Criminology and Psychology. A criminal lawyer or a criminal profiler would be my dream job.
I am really glad that I decided to stay at Sandhurst Sixth Form and am looking forward to the next two years.

Hello, I am Curtis and I am currently a student in Year 13. I am studying A-Level Maths, Computing and Geography. I have been given a lot of opportunities at Sandhurst during my time here. I was elected Deputy Head Boy by the sixth form and staff and I am also employed as a part time Food Technician here at school.
There are many reasons why I chose Sandhurst Sixth Form. One of the main reasons was the more individual approach from staff which gives all the students the opportunity to do well. It’s very easy to speak with teachers if we have questions regarding work outside lesson time. We meet with our tutors once a week which gives us an opportunity to discuss any issues we may be having.
We have also qualified as First Aiders for St John’s Ambulance and have attended educational trips one of which was to Snowdonia with Geography where we had a chance to look at glacial landforms that we had been studying in our A Level course.
To help us with our choices post Sixth Form we have visited universities and a higher education event. We have had talks about student finance, apprenticeships and a careers event to help us move on. We also completed a week’s work experience in Year 12. My work experience was with Bracknell Forest Council – Regeneration Team. We are given advice on how to build our CV’s and we are currently working through the university application process.
I have visited Reading University and this weekend I am off to Southampton to make sure I choose the correct path for me. My number one choice so far is Newcastle University to study Geographical Information Systems.
